So how much more does a convertible LT1 car weigh?

I've looked all around and have found numbers varying as much as 500 lbs between two different convertibles.

Does anyone have a realistic difference between weights? I know the F-body convertibles can't weigh that much more because they run pretty close in 1/4 times only being a 1/10th or 2 slower. That would be 150lbs maybe?

The pump, lines, and fluid weigh 30lbs. The switch and wiring is another what 2-3lbs? The premium sound system comes on all convertibles, so add another 5lbs? All convertibles got that stupid X brace underneath the car that bolts on but this is definatly no more than 10lbs. And the actual top cant weigh that much. I would figure it to weigh around 75lbs or so.

That would put it at 125lbs more, plus any little things I forgot that verts have other cars dont.

I've heard 3650 to 3700. Alot of people said 3700. I weighed my hardtop at the track, and it weighed 3512. The car has t-tops and leather seats. Car & Driver weighed an LS1 vert at 3600 so an LT1 car should weigh slightly more.

I just checked the GVWR tag for my 96' A4 Leather Interior Convertable Z28 and it reads 4,369 lbs. The GVWR tag on my 94' M6 T-Top Cloth Interior Z28 reads 4,215 lbs. So that's only 154 lbs. difference.

My car in FULL STREET TRIM, with stereo and woofers, leather, full carpet, ground effects(they are gone now), a 6 point bar, and a Ford 9 inch, with my 250 pound *** in the car and a half tank of gas weighted in at 3945 last summer.

Re: So how much more does a convertible LT1 car weigh?

Fred your the man. Thanks lol. I was in the middle of a debate about how much heavier my car is, and how it is pointless to build a convertible. It irritated me though. Especially now that I found out its 90lbs. 90lbs is really the difference between me and the guy who was argueing with me about it

Honda Hunter ~ PM me and tell me about your 383 build up for your convertible. I like knowing other people with convertibles have seen that their no slow heavy *** pig, and are actually still worth tearing into. I could see not wanting to use one for auto-X or something but ...

GVWR is not the actual weight of your car. Even my heavy *** "SS" vert. doesn't weigh that much.

Good luck finding one that only weighs 90 more!!! My fully equipped "SS" convert. weighs almost 3650+, 3800+ with me in it.

P.S. I've turned 14.0X in the 1/4 m.
