SLP quality?

I've got a '96 SS and I'm in the market for some headers. SLPs are an option, but I've noticed while reading through a lot of these posts, that people seem to be down on SLP. Is this due to quality issues, customer service, etc.?

high cost and poor ground clearance...

you can't go wrong with Hooker or pacesetter (made by a derivative of hooker).

Check out the MAC headers, they're mid-length and supposed to unleash plenty of power from our cars. They're pretty popular as well, so do a search.

I have a LS1 with a catted MAC header set up. I couldn't really imagine having any less ground clearance, the car just barely clears the bigger speed bumps.

Maybe a off road Y pipe and long tubes would have O.K. ground clearance.

I think quality control is down yet prices stay high.
I puchased slp headers less then a year ago and the o2 sensor bung was welded incorrectly, it pointed straight down so it was below the
k-memeber and was the lowest part of the car.

Ive had my SLP heasders and LM on for over a year and it still looks like the day I bought them. The headers are ceramic coated and show no worse for wear in a year. All connections on the LM are still perfect and the tips still shine perfect. Everytime I called them or emailed them they were very friendly and fast to reply with great help and hints to help me. 100% recommend them.
