Should I trade?

Ive got a 98 mustang GT convert 5 speed in great shape with 110K miles on it. Ive been looking at a 94' Z28 M6 with 99K miles thats in decent shape. I know its kind of silly asking this on a camaro forum but Im wondering what to look for next time I go to see and drive this camaro? Im pretty sure I can trade for nearly nothing, but im sitll not sure if I want to let go of the stang though.

Camaro all the way! Less common, more of a true muscle/sports car, WAY more power, etc.

Re: Should I trade?

You'll miss not being able to lower the top.

I used to have a 94 Mustang GT convertible. I was not happy with its performance. Compared to Camaros I owned in the past it was slow and handled poorly.

Now I drive another Camaro, this time a droptop six speed car. The best of everything.

Re: Should I trade?

I know nothing about the life of a GTs engine...but LT1s can last, and 99k is not bad for that year especially. You will be happy with the trade - but the car is 5 years older than your stang, but less miles and will probably last longer in the long run. Once again, I know nothing about GT engine life, etc.

Re: Should I trade?

just saw pics of it in another thread of yours - you will miss everything besides the performance, depending on the condition of this Camaro.

Re: Should I trade?

get the camaro the engine is corvette based 275-300 hp. i dont like the 4.6 liter dohc engine any way. i rather have any small block chevy including a 305. i dont like dohc engine period. the mustang took a turn for the worest when they got rid of the 302 it was a halfway decent engine. that 94 marro would kill that poor pony. just my 2 cents

Re: Should I trade?

Thanks for the replies guys. I will miss this stang dearly, for one its the best sounding car around (mac offroad X and mac flowpath catback), and one of the best looking in my opinion. The mustang doesnt thrill me as far as pin you in your seat performance. This mustang is the fastest car I had ever driven until I test drove a trans am LT1 a couple of days ago. Im still wishy washy about trading, Ive got until tuesday to make up my mind though. I dont really care for letting the top back, I feel werid when the top is down and Id rather have a roof over my head. The other reason I want a camaro is because hardly anyone has them. I go to a small church, a crowd of about 50 every sunday and im one of 4 with mustangs, and I just would rather dominate over all of them even more than I do now and have something different (2 are V6's, ones a 67 with a 3speed and 302 and the other is mine). I just hope if I do get the camaro that Ill still get atleast some of the attention I get in this car (i hate to say it but I love it). The 4.6 in my car is a dog, it sounds great no doubt about it, I get compliments All the time but its slow as *****. The t45 5 speeds in these cars are junk too, the shift forks blow very easily and I learned that the hard way and a couple of weeks ago had to do a tranny swap, luckily I could do it in the shop at school (im 16). Thanks for the replies, in my perfect world Id have the 5.4L 4valve in my car and sound great and be fast at the same time, but in the real world the GM dominates ford in performance. Ive got a couple of questions about these camaros, can the traction control be turned off? I love spinning when I leave school and in the rain and such, and can the 1st to 4th shift be turned off to where I can go from 1st to 2nd and so on any time?

Re: Should I trade?

The automatic is out of the question for me, I hate automatics, no offence to anyone but if camaros only came with autos then Id keep my stang. Its good to know that the t56's are better, because alot of stang guys blow their 5 speeds including me. Good to know that the 1st to 4th prob can be fixed, Ill have to read about how to rig up the resistor. Ive heard the chebby rear ends were weak, its a shame that alot of mustangs dont have the power to use that big rear end, and the chebbys have the power to use a big rear but are stuck with a weak one.

Re: Should I trade?

Actually the 4L60E's hold up very well considering the stress they are under with the LT1/LS1 cars. It is a MUCH better tranny, both shifting, and reliability wise, than the Ford AOD. Had to put my 2 cents in....
