shifter **** spins

the glue on the inside of the leather of my shifter **** (stock 6 speed ****) has given out and now the leather will spin and move around when i am shifting. Feels like the ball itself is spinning, but I can tell that its actually the leather.

Anyway, its almost impossible to get any glue up in there because the leather is so tight around the ball.

has anybody seen this before or know of a way to fix it?

thought about that, but i'm looking for a no-cost solution. Plus, I cut down my shifter, so I doubt that the H pattern on the **** would line up exactly right.

I got one of those Hurst Shift ***** and theyre nice. The same thing happened to me with the leather wrapping coming loose. It did not bother me that much but I liked the Hurst ****, so I went with it.

there is no way to get the thread exactly right so that the pattern lines up.

what you have to do is put small shims...like a piece of plastic trimmed to fit...on top of the stick. then thread the **** on. you add, subtract and use different materials to get the desired alignment. that's how you have to do all the aftermarket *****.

I used 24 hr epoxy on the threads when I installed mine. I lined it up to where it looked good and didnt touch it.

I guess that would be ok, you would have to move the boot, and remove the shifter or stick to pull the tranny. (easier anyways)

I prefer the hurst ****, and it lines up just right with an extra grunt or two.

Re: shifter **** spins

My shifter boot sags like 3/4 inch down from the ****. I hate it really, I tried sewing it tighter and when I would go to knot it, it breaks. I have no other clue how to fix it besides gluing it.
