Shift points...HP or TQ??...lshift ight setting...

Do you shift for TQ or HP drop off?

I'm looking at my dyno sheet... (all rw #'s)
@2400rpm (where pull is marked from/starts) my hp is at about 145... my TQ is at about 315

My hp levels off at 5300rpm, and drops at a little over 5700rpm.
My tq is level from 4000rpm thru 5000 rpm. drops off at 5000 and really starts to fall at 5500rpm.

What should I set a shift light to? I would think Hp drop off because TQ is almost immediately available. Where as the HP climbs for about another 500rpm.

set the light at 6K....so you're shifting before the limiter

wish i had a copy of the test that showed the 1/4mi times from using the various "shift point" theories.

on shifted at peak torque, one peak hp and one at near redline....redline was the fastest

^oh, Ok... Trying to land back in the 'powerband'.. I guess.. I'm gettign a NOS dry kit soon. If I had the window switch kill the nitrous @ 5600 or 5800rpm.... I might just set the light for 6 or 5900..

and yes....when you shift you want to still be in your power band

cool... oh, and my RL was reset to 6500 I think (ls1edit).. won't go there, there's no power there and I fear bent pushrods.
