SES light question...

Should the SES bulb light up and then go off like the rest of the lights in the gauge cluster when you start your car? If it is, mine never has, and how do I go about fixing it?

Yes, it should come on for the bulb test. You may need to remove the cluster to check for a burned out bulb.

I'm not sure about OBD1, but OBD2 will set a MIL circuit DTC if the bulb goes out, which you can check with a scanner.

Both OBD-I and OBD-II have codes for a faulty SES light circuit.

Ok, how can I scan it for codes. I know the parts stores around here only scan OBD2, or so I believe. What can I use to scan it for codes?

You need an OBD-I scanner, like the Auto X-ray. Then, because your 95 has a 16-pin OBD-II style ALDL connector, you need an adapter plug to go from 12-pin OBD-I to the 16-pin, or you need to use jumper wires as shown on Shoebox's site:

You can find used Auto X-rays on eBay for low $$$$.

Or, you can use scan software, like FreeScan (free download), TTS DataMaster (free download, 20 free uses), or EFILive V4 (have to pay for it), then get the correct cable to allow you to hook up your laptop to the ALDL connector, from AKM Electronics.

Thank you for the help. I guess I will look into buying an Auto X-ray for the time being. Thanks again.
