When I start my car the security system goes off. Lights flash, horn honks, for aprox 3 min. I do not know what is going on. Car runs fine. Battery seems weak but starts the car.

Also my traction control and abs no longer work. Whats going on?

Any ideas?

 

Factory alarm or aftermarket?

What lights are on, on the dash - ..."ABS INOP"? ....."ASR OFF"? ..... "BRAKE"?

Is your center/high mounted brake light burned out?

Have you had the EBTCM scanned for codes? Its hard to find anyone other than a dealer with a Tech-2 who can read the codes, but sometimes, if all else fails, that's the easiest way to figure it out.

 

Factory alarm system, I have no key fobs.

ABS INOP, ASR OFF, Brake(ebake is on) and Security are on. Brake and Security are normally on.


brake light...i dont know. Would that really matter? Ill check it today just because you said that.

I have not had the car scanned. I recently put LT headers, ditched the air, and egr systems, as well as both rear 02 sensors and cats.

I am getting it tuned next week, could it be tune related?

You seem to be indicating the dash "BRAKE" light is always on - sort of hard to decipher. That's not just for the E-brake. That also comes on when you have unequal hydraulic pressure in the front and rear braking systems. There's a pressure differential switch on the side of the ABS motor module, where the two lines from the master cylinder connect. If you have unequal pressure in the two systems, it indicates a problem with leaks, air in the lines, etc. It would be logical for the ABS and TCS to be turned off when you have a problem like that, since those system work based on pressure.

As strange as it seems, the ABS shuts down when the CHMSL burns out. There's actually a code in the EBTCM for "brake light circuit".

 

I did have a 3rd brake light out, but it did not fix the issue. I am going to have the car tuned and hope that fixes it.

Could a bad battery be the issue?

I am clueless.

Sent my PCM out for a tune, purchased a key fob for the car as well.


I found that ABS/TCS share a relay under the hood, figure I will change that as well.

Horn goes off but I pulled the fuse because it was driving me nuts, also I know my front turn signals are too dark, they will get replaced before spring.
