security light on your dash

Has anyone here have there security light on your dash light up?I had this problem with my car it will not let you start the car.It has to do with that pass key chip that is on your ignition key.I had to call my GM dealer to find out what was going on and they told me to let the car sit for 30 min. then try again. So I waited for 30 min. then it started up and the light was out.Just like to know if anyone ever had this same thing happen?

The dealer told you 30 minutes?! All you have to do is wait for the security light to go out...which happens in 3-4 minutes.

yes it will rest in 3 minutes if the fualt is no longer there. you could have the start of some issues tho.. perhaps a dirty key or the start of a breaking wire in the key cylinder

yes this happened to me, for about 4 months off and on. The last time it happened the car would not start at all. i waited for 5 min tryed, no, sat there for an hour. The lock cylinder had to be replaced. Replaced it and everything is peachy. what im trying to say is replace it or you may get stuck in the middle of nowhere one day.
