Question Security light help!

I am having issues with my z28 right now and one of them is the security light coming on. its not always on, but comes on sometimes after driving for about 5-10min. and then if you turn it off and turn it back on it comes on right away, let it sit for an hour it goes away for a bit and comes back. any chance this might just be the chip in the key going bad? it starts up fine each time. however the mechanic told me sometimes the security light will more or less put the motor into limp mode where it runs like crap. its intermittent wihen the light will come on though its driving me nuts!!

One other thing, I also can't move my driver side window up and down or use the powerlocks, but the passenger window goes up and down, but still no power locks from that side.

If anyone were to try to look up any particulars about your car, you will need to provide the model year.

Re: Security light help!

sorry, thought I had already made a sig with the info in it. I have a 95 z28 convertible. and from I've read of similar problems it seems to me the chip in the key is just worn. I haven't checked resistance yet, going to do that in a bit hopefully its out of spec and I can just install the resistor of the correct resistance in line and be done with it.
