Will the security light come on if there is a problem with the ignition switch? will it come on if there is a problem with the theft deterrant relay?


- If you have a bad theft deterrant relay, what symptoms will you see? Will it be intermittant?

- If you have a bad ignition switch, what symptoms will you see? will it be intermittant?

I don't believe security lamp will come on in either of those situations. You could have intermittent problems with the TDR or ignition switch. The TDR could cause a no start conditiion. The ignition swith could too, but you would likely have no dash lights/gauge operation at the same time.

 

so, a faulty ignition switch would have the dash dead when it doesnt start?

And a faulty TDR would also have a dead dash or would the dash still be on with a faulty TDR?

It can. Most times you get nothing when it is turned to the ON position.
This would not affect the dash.

 

ok, I just took apart the glove box and there are two relays towards the right side of it. They are identical relays. One is on top of the other and one has heavier wires than the other, does anyone know which one is the TDR?

 

what color are the wires ?

 

One is the hatch relay, the other the TDR. The TDR has a large yellow wire, a large brown wire, a large purple wire and a smaller yellow/black wire.
