Seat belt issues...

I took my car in to BB the other day to get my car alarm installed. Well the guy must have had my whole damn car apart because my seat belt was messed up. Today I was trying to fix it and the stupid belt actually got stuck. I can see where the problem is caused.

I posted this in the lounge not to long ago, but realized it should be here instead. The people there said my best bet is to take it apart. What is the easiest way to get the seat belt section near the roof of the car out? Can I just pull that plastic surrounding it?

Might want to mention the year of the car, model, etc., and which seat belt position you are asking about.... e.g. driver's front?

I have a 99 Firebird and it's on the driver's side front.

Re: Seat belt issues...

If you open the hatch, you can reach up under the headliner and get to the rear bolt that holds the harness belt retractor to the roof. I think there is a second bolt in the front of the retractor that can also be reached by pulling the headliner down from behind (its been about 4 or 5 years since I removed mine). You have to be careful not to bend the headliner too much, or it will crease.
