rpm guage goes the wrong way!!!!!

i am very upset right now. i just recieved and installed this 95 z28 cluster into my 93 camaro. everything appears to be working properly except for the rpm guage. it goes the wrong direction. it appears to be working fine at idel but when you give the car a little gas the needle starts to move up but then goes striaght down. i am clueless about what to do. i paid $100 for this thing and it doesnt even work properly. it has the white faces and stainless back.

any help is welcomed.

rpm gauge = "tachometer"

The 93 tach wiring is different than all the other years, and has a "filter" in it. Possibly the 93 wiring is not compatible with the 94 and newer tach? Possible you need to remove the filter?????

Imagine that! Fred stated that in his post right after your first post. Always rember Fred will not point you in the wrong direction. Hes a living breathing factory service manual.

Next time dude read your replys and dont bash senior members.

for future reference When swapping a 94+ cluster in your 93 the tach filter is located on the wiring harness close to the icm and coil. cut the wires running into it and solder them together deleting the filter.

I do not know where it is located but if you trace the wire from the instrument cluster connector im sure you will find it. I have a 94 so i dont have the filter.

its freakin cold outside today.....40 something. anyways i started looking under my hood to try and find a anwser to why my tach is all funky. what is this little box?

where is the main wire located for the tach under the hood? can i just run my own wire from the main source into the dash to the tach and have it work that way?

AFAIK, that is the tach filter, are the wires going to it white?
