i just put my motor all back together using the 12pt ARP head studs. after i do my initial startup, how do i go back and retorque the bolts under the headers without pulling the headers off?

You don't. Have to pull the headers.

Re: retorquing the head bolts below headers

If it makes you feel any better, I routinely mark the bolts before a retorque to see the amount of change. With studs, I normally see the long ones relax a little, but the short ones seem to stay put. In case you decide to take the easy way out & only check the top ones.
