Replacing Quarter Panel

Got hit the other day on the left side just infront of the rear wheel. Quarter panel needs to be replaced. I am getting a replacement from GM, but can anyone tell me how to go about tearing the old one off and putting the new one on? I believe there is adhesive involved? Any help would be appreciated. thanks.

Rear quarter panel?

If so, I'd let a professional handle it since welding is involved.

Not fun...good luck.

No insurance? A DIY repair may not be covered.

Unless your a professional bodyman or at least experienced in that type of thing..... I wouldnt even think of trying that myself, and I will typically do just about anything myself.

Re: Replacing Quarter Panel

My dad has been a professional in metal work/welding for almost 30 years so there is no problem as far as that is concerned. Im just wondering if anyone has experience with such a project...

Re: Replacing Quarter Panel

You have to peel that top roof panel off. The one that goes right behind the T-tops as that covers some of the spot welds. I've heard this panel can break really easy and is super expensive new, like $500 from a dealer.

Yes it can break. The shop that was replacing a quarter panel on my car said it broke when removing it, so they got a new one which I think is already painted.

Re: Replacing Quarter Panel

Why don't you just get one off a wrecked car at a local salvage yard, seems like it would be a lot cheaper and it would still be a GM part.
