Harmonic Balancer

Hey guys,
Is a Harmonic Balancer a dealer only item? Just checked Advance and Autozone... no joy. Lookin' around on a few websites and can't find anything.
Where to buy?

Thanks

Re: Harmonic Balancer

There are aftermarket dampers for the V8 but I would be surprised if you could find any for a V6. If you checked Advance and Autozone already you'll probably have to go to the dealer. But why do you need a new damper? As far as I know that's an item you never have to replace.

Just tryin' to learn. Good to know it's not a common failure item. Thanks!
And for Donohue, was it an obvious break? What did the car run like?

With the 2-piece dampers, it isn't out of the question for the rubber intermediate ring to dry out and crack. I know with the LT1's, I'm starting to see a few posts by people who have had them fail.

That happened to the damper on my Bonneville with the 3.8. The rubber dried out and cracked, wore out all the way around the outer edge of the rubber, the old girl has 197,000 on the clock. I got the damper at a junk yard for pretty cheap and in good condition.

Re: Harmonic Balancer

My damper looks like it'll go in the next 20k miles, and I'm only at 92k. We get alot of cars in at work getting them replaced, also. I think its more common but over looked.
