Replacing Oil Level Sensor

Tried a search, but came up with nothing. I noticed that my oil level sensor is leaking, any tips on removing the electrical connection? Anyone know what one of these sensors is worth?

Thanks!

A new sensor would be around 30-40 bucks, I can't remember off the top of my head what I paid for it last year. All you need is either an open ended wrench, or crescent wrench to take it out of the oil pan, it is threaded into it. If it is not broken, I would remove it, clean the threads, and put a new o ring back in it. It really isn't worth buying a new one unless it is really broken.

It seems like it is leaking from the electrical connection, not where it screws into the oil pan, any trick to unplugging that connection without wrecking it?

I've never replaced one on a LT1, but from the pic on shoebox's site looks like a standard 2 wire connector. Looks easy to just unplug and unscrew the sensor - I'd do it on your next oil change if it isn't leaking too bad. Don't know about the price, but the LS1 sensor is only about $23 GM list at a dealership.

the clip for the plug is a little recessed into the actual sensor...u just need to take a small screwdriver and pop the clip up a little bit, and then u should be able to slide the plug out of the sensor...also, when i replaced mine the last time, i used a little RTV sealant on the threads and also around the outside of the sensor where it meets the pan...never had a leak after that
