Replacing LT1 Hub -- non keyed

Hi guys,

I'm going to pull and replace my hub this weekend. I bought a used, stock hub. When installing the new hub, do I have to orient it in any particular way? I have read a few different posts, and some people say it can be on in any direction because the LT1 is neutrally balanced and others say it has to be aligned with TDC.

Which is the correct way? The problem with aligning the engine at TDC after the hub is popped off is that there's nothing to turn the engine by hand at that point, and if I disturb TDC, it will be a real problem to get it back to TDC.

Is there a definite position the crank snout has to be in when I put the hub on?

Thanks!

You can set it to top dead center before you pull the hub you know. lol

But if not.

You can install the hub at any spot it will not affect anything, the reason people put them on at top dead center is so that you can align the timing marks on hub and balancer. It is keyless and neutral balanced, any position will do.

I just wasn't sure what would happen if while i was pressing the hub on, the crank moved a bit -- i didn't want something bad to happen!
