Question Removing Rear Seat

I'm thinking about removing my rear seat for the track soon.

Is it even worth it and how do I remove it?

What's the most weight I'll lose, 20 lbs? I'm also removing the jack, spare, and rear trunk cover.

Re: Removing Rear Seat

The seat itself will not be 20 lbs.

Re: Removing Rear Seat

I took out all that stuff you mentioned and it was a 100lb difference.

Re: Removing Rear Seat

13mm socket and an extension will take out the seats. Thay are a pain to put back in, pushing down on the seat while you thread the bolt helps a lot. Taking out all that stuff will definitly not hurt, but make sure you have a place to lock it up at the track (jack and spare assuming you don't drive without one.) or someone to sit on it while your gone.

Re: Removing Rear Seat

Not sure how much it weighs...
Its easy to remove...just one bolt for each bucket and then the large bolts that the seat pivots on when you fold it. You might have to remove the seat belt guides that are bolted onto the back of the seat.
Simple job!

On real rare occasions, I'm either too busy with school or work. If a group of us wanted to meet up and go, I'd make time.

Re: Removing Rear Seat

I pulled my rear seats and belts. After weighing everything, it was 42 lbs.

Re: Removing Rear Seat

now add the the spare tire and jack to it then the front seat and i could see why you loose 100 pounds
that front seat must weigh a ton just by itself i know when i took it out it was heavy

Re: Removing Rear Seat

My cloth front seat was 36#. Replaced the driver's side with a 15# Corbeau and an 8# sliding bracket, that bracket will soon be replaced with a lighter fixed unit.

The rear seat bottom cushions, folding seatback and the belts weighed 38#.

They were cloth also, right?? I'd have thought there would be a bigger difference between yours at 38# and my leather set at 42#.

Re: Removing Rear Seat

Rear seats don't weigh that much. I pulled them on my 94, to give me mre storage space a couple times, I think you need a torx bit, to get the seatbelt guides off the rear seats.
