pull it all the way back to 1st gear. there is a little staple clip in the front of the ****, just pull it out, then the shifter plate will pop right off

Thanks. I was about to lose my mind trying to figure it out. Is it a pain in the *** to get the staple out?

Yep, turn key on so you can select first, pull the staple out (small screwdrriver/needle nose plyers), the pull straight up. Staple comes out easy.

Once you have the staple out be careful pulling the **** off and dont hit yourself, they tend to stick on there and come off all of a sudden

I've seen some service manuals warn you to not hit yourself in the face, lol
