Removed battery, got an SES light

I removed my battery a couple days ago, and when I put it back in, I got an SES light. I figured it would go away in a few hours, but its still on. Is this normal? I don't have any way of scanning to see what ifs for. How long until it will go off? Thanks.

That doesn't sound right, no reason the battery should set off a light. WHy did you pull the battery in the first place? Try pulling the PCM fuse for 15 seconds then putting it back in.

No luck, I tried it and it didn't work. Any other ideas?

You're just an idiot with a Z28.....

jk

You're better off borrowing a scanner from somewhere if you can, not sure why removing and reinstalling a battery would set off the light

real funny I'm suprised it took 43 posts for someone to say that. Anybody in the Jacksonville area got a Scan Master I can use?

A ScanMaster can not pull the codes on the OBD-II 96/97's. Only pulls codes on OBD-I 94/95's.

I hope you get a scanner on that. I'm very curious as to why the SES light is on. Why did you take out the battery to begin with? If you installed something and now you have a light then thats most likely your problem.

Re: Removed battery, got an SES light

Oh, I was having trouble with the VATS and someone told me removing the battery would reset the thing. So I disconnected it for about 15 minutes then hooked it back up. After thatm the SES light came on. Thats the only thing I can think of that I did. I did go messing with the BCM the next day, but that was after the light came on. Any ideas?

Sometimes a local part store (autozone, kargen) will rent out a OBDII scanner so you can find the code your having.
