Wrecked car=FrankenCamaro?

Just to give a little background, I recently totaled my 1994 V6 camaro (clearly right?) damaging both my bumpers and a fender. The autobody shop has yet to investigate whether or not there is any damage to the suspension/anything underneath my vehicle.

The worst case scenario is that there Are mechanical issues underneath and I can't fix my baby. In this case, I was thinking about buying a 93-97 camaro or firebird missing an engine/transmission (something to make it cheap that I know my car has) and just swapping parts into the roller.

My first question: Is this a plausible idea?
If so, can I put a V6 into a car that originally had a V8?
My car is a manual, will that affect whether or not I can swap parts with an automatic?

Conversely, if I sold my car instead, how much would I be able to get out of it? There's only 127k miles on it tops. However, it's also the most basic package, having no power locks/windows, or trunk button.

Thanks in advance ladies and gentlemen!

The key difference between the V8 and the V6 is the K-member - the cradle that supports the engine and front suspension. V6 and V8 models require different K-members. You would have to get one from a V6 model, if you plan to use your current engine.

Would I be able to use the k member out of my car?

Only if it wasn't damaged in the wreck.

Gotcha, thanks.
One more thing, if I buy an automatic, would I be able to turn it into a manual using parts from my car? Or would I still need to invest in a kit?
