Reinstall of airbag when wrong!!

*First post was erased due to time out, this is the second fast-typed post*

I have a 94 camaro. The turn mulit-use switch is going bad as we speak.

Problems: (before install)
- headlight bright/low - must use the tilt and slam method for it to work
- blinker usage - stiff to use left and right - much harder to deactivate blinker

I went to AutoZone and they advised me to buy what they thought would fix the problem... a new blinker switch (inside the steering column behind the wheel). I went through all the trouble to take it off, airbags, fuses, and all. Then in the process realized that it wasnt that switch, it was the actual multi-use switch outside of the steering column that was the scum bag. I felt i should continue to install the piece that i had already bought so i finished the installation. (btw, i cannot find the multi-use arm switch at any retail store.. any ideas? ...i havent tried the GM dealer yet)

However, during the install, once I had taken off the steering wheel, I had heard a snap! I'm thinking it had something to do with my horn connection from steering wheel to steering coulmn. I had seen that the white clyindrical tube had chipped off a bit. I wasnt 100% sure I had broken anything serious and didnt see any pieces on the floor so I continued. The uninstall of the switch i had was a *****, but everything went fine, so i started to put everything back together ... When I came to the install of the wheel, I had a problem trying to figure out how the horn wires connected to the steering column. I figured the two wires (connected together with a coupler and had a spring on the end) just sat in the white cylindrical tube. I assumed all it needed was current from the horn button to work. After installing the airbag on top of that, i had finished the install. After all that nothing was fixed ( due to wrong parts from AutoZone) and now I have a horn problem.

Can anyone tell me if I may have snapped something important pertaining to the reconnection of the horn wiring on the steering wheel to the steering column? Im not sure how those connect. Anyone have pictures as to what the tube is supposed to look like? I'll be taking apart my steering wheel again hopefully and will also be taking some pics I will post on here for you to see.

Testing: I want to test the horn current behind the wheel. Can I test the horn current while ONLY the air bag fuse is disconnected and no the other air bag connectors while the battery is connected and the car is on?

Re: Reinstall of airbag when wrong!!

this shouldn't be in the pcm programming section, but the white tube should have a bayonet type connection on the end of it. the wire for the horn sits on top of the spring and should have a plastic "shoulder" that slides into the tube and twist locks w/ like a bayonet connection.

good luck.
