Rear Defogger Dead

97 Camaro Z28
So we got our first blast of snow today and I reach down to fire up the defogger, press the button and...

Nothing.

Cleared the rear window and drove to work, intermittently trying the defogger but the light never comes on and I don't see any evidence that the rear window is heating up (no "melting stripes")

Tried swapping the fuse in the dash with the window controls. Windows work fine before and after the switch, defogger still doesn't work so I don't think it's that...

Any ideas what to try next?

Re: Rear Defogger Dead

Are both the wires connected at the window ?
My wires are connected but the one on the passenger side has become separated from the glass.

Re: Rear Defogger Dead

I checked that last night and they're fine and connected. There's some crud at the top of the pins that I'm going to try to clean off this weekend, but the contacts and the socket itself were clean. The wires on the rear window itself appear all be intact (no breaks)

I'm thinking the relay might've died or the button contact is bad at the dash. There's no "click" or reaction to pressing the defogger button. I had removed that panel earlier this spring for a car stereo attachment and I'm thinking maybe I didn't put everything back together right. But, of course, now it's 20 degrees outside and I don't have a garage!
