radio problem

i have a 94 camaro z28 with the stock bose stereo, when i start the car the radio turns on but u cant hear any thing. the radio wont let you change the station or do any thing. this only happens sometimes, when you turn the car off and open the door then turn the key on it will operate fine, but this doesn't fix the problem 80% of the time

I don't know much about the BOSE unit but you need to provide more detail so we can understand exactly what is happening. How do you know it is "ON"? The face plate lighting up is different than the unit being ON.

Typically there is a different power line to retain radio memory and light the faceplate than the main power which runs the radio. You should check for power on both wires when the radio should be on to make sure you don't have a power problem on one line or the other.

I would also better define what position the key is in when you experience the problems. Is it in the Run position or the ACC position?
