questions for seller

i am looking at a 1989 GTA convertible. Are there any particular questions i should be asking the seller? i am unable to go to see the car in person but i have seen many pictures and am almost certain i will buy the car. any help would be greatly appreciated

Ask everything you can about prior repairs/damage/current leaks. Buying a car without seeing it is a risk since it could be a total lemon.

I could do that but then there is also the chance that they could buy the car out from underneath me. I'm currently in Iraq and i really want this car. i'm just trying to gather as much info as i can before i commit myself.

Well, I know you are excited and you should be, but just dont let it force you into a hasty decision. Always remember that people sell there cars for a reason, whatever it may be. Try to find out if there were any accidents, body repair, what kind of repairs and upgrades have been done to the powertrain, suspension, etc. Also, if it is a vert., make sure the top has no tears and it is in good working order because that can add up. Otherwise, good luck and hope it works out for you.
