Question about headers

I'm looking into getting headers for my 97 Z-28, but I want to a set that's going to make my life a little easier. Which set gives the best access to the spark plugs? Also, do long tubes, mids, or shorties offer more power...I've heard different opinions either way. Thanks, Alan.

Re: Question about headers

Life wont be easy during the install no matter what style you go with. As for plug access in relation to header style, it is a highly debated topic. I have long tubes and I find plug access to be extremely easy with them.

Re: Question about headers

LTs make the most power....

mids are not far behind, probably similar gains in the low to mid rpms, and only slightly less than LTs in the upper. if ground clearance is an issue you're best bet is mids. you'll never feel the power difference between them and LTs in real life.

Re: Question about headers

With my driveway being at least a steep 45 deg. angle, I was worried my LTs were going to scrape. However, they tuck up extremely well and I have not had any ground clearance issues with the LTs.

Re: Question about headers

My car does have Eibach Sportline springs, so it's lower than stock...I don't know how much of a difference that will make, although I do drag some undercarriage here and there if the incline is steep enough. I know the install will suck, my friend put headers on his Z and it took him 15 hours he said...a little bit long because he doesn't have a shop to work in.
