Putting on new a/c compressor this week! Please help

My a/c compressor has not locked up,it just grinds in the front pully area.I am gonna put it on myself, but if the compressor isn't locked up,and i plug the lines when i remove them do i still need to have it evacuated. If i do,is the car still ok to drive,i won't mess up the new compressor right? Also how much does it cost to evacuate it,not recharging it,i'm gonna do that. Please write quick i'm doing this soon!

You should have it evacuated before you take it off. If you get a good shop to do that, they won't charge you much to put it right back in. You might as well change your drier as well while you're putting the new compressor on.

You can't plug the lines, just too much pressure, IMO.
