Purple Ice vs water wetter

Purple Ice vs water wetter
Does anyone know if there is a difference between purple ice and red line water wetter? I heard either one is worth the money. I can't find purple ice on the shelf (still need to check a local speed shop) but I can get water wetter just about any place.

AFAIK, they all do the same thing.....basically reduce the "viscosity" of water so it flows better and increases its efficiency as a heat transfer medium.

I figured they were the same, just wondering if one was more worth the money, I doubt it but figured I would ask. I am pulling the A/C and doing a collant flush and radiatot cleaning so I figured I would pout some of that stuff in

humm no ****, i wondered how that stuff worked. I got a bottle of "TOW KOOL" for .50 cents at an autozone clearance sale. For 50 cents if it doesnt do anything oh well. Its for my truck though, not the T/A.

I have used water wetter in the past and had good results. I was towing a 2K lb trailer with a '89 F-150. I was cruising throught the California High Desert in august and temps were a bit high. I think the WW made about a 10 degree difference.

Re: Purple Ice vs water wetter
FWIW, we ran Royal Purple "Purple Ice" after re-building the motor in my Dad's '73 Camaro this past summer, and I honestly think it helped keep the motor running cooler. The new motor has higher compression (compression = heat, right? ) and a lumpier cam than the old motor, yet the temperature usually seems to stay at or below ~190* for the most part. It'll spike to ~205* while stopped, or in stop-and-go traffic, but it used to go even higher (between ~210/220*) with the old motor, before running with the Purple Ice .

Re: Purple Ice vs water wetter
I use RL water wetter during the summer with distilled water and very little anti-freeze. It reduces the 'surface tension' of the water as I recall and they recommend no more than a 50/50 anti-freeze/water mix -- the more anti-freeze, the less efficient the water is for cooling.
I haven't tried Purple Ice but I'm happy with Water Wetter. In 90*+ temps my car never goes over 175-180 in stop-n-go traffic. I have a 160* stat, too. It would get to 190* before using it.
A side note is that Overclockers use it in water cooled computer rigs and swear by it lowering temps. But they don't use any anti-freeze, just distilled water.
