A project car

Well pretty much i would love to find a 4th gen with high mileage sort of a not so takin care of car so i can bring it back to its natural beauty. But the main thing is what combo should i go with as far as motor, tranny, and rear end. It will pretty much only be a weekend maybe a weekday here an there car. so pretty much i dont care what shape the motor or tranny and that is in cause its all gonna have brand new put in, after income tax i'm doing some serious shopping to find my next LS1 project car. Oh yea i dont know where i should've posted this at so i chose here.
Thanks for any info guys.

Rebuild the bottom end, LT's, cat-back, CAI, p&p TB, aftermarket intake manifold, injectors, and the finale...head and cam swap w/ a tune. All depends on how much power you want. From the mods stated above...~500hp easily. Have fun with it.

It's hard to give you any insight on a motor combo, with the LSx platform, there are just so many different combinations out there right now it boggles the mind. Same goes for the trans, rearend, suspension, ect. I would start searching through some older posts and see what combos others are running, maybe that will give you some ideas of what direction to take.
