programming keyless remote

I bought a new battery, tried to re program then tried to program the other two remotes I have laying around. None of that has worked. I find it hard to believe it would be the remote or battery so it's either me trying to program or the system.

To program I took the radio fuse out, cycled the ignition three times, the locks cycle then I press the lock and unlock buttons at the same time and after 16 seconds nothing happens...any ideas? thanks

Just a suggestion but I find my connectors behind the passenger side kick panel need to be moved around a bit from time to time because the remote seems to work sporadically at times. It's not much to pull the panel out and have a good look and worth a shot. Tell us if you find a solution.

could you give me a little more info on the connections behind the kick panel?

what would be involved in replacing the keyless system with the one from my wrecked '97. is the system tied into the wiring or seperate? thanks

From the picture on shbox.com I think you see what you need. Maybe shoebox will add or correct....

good luck.

Are all the remotes the same FCCID#? Something else you can try is "resynchronization" - press and hold the remote lock and unlock buttons with the car off first - supposed to cycle the door locks and flash the parking lights on the later cars.

Keyless functions on 96 and later are in the BCM. There is no keyless receiver behind the kick panel.

I don't have any additional troubleshooting ideas at this time.

update: I have just either not been locking my car or if I do just make sure I get the key in the ignition before it starts beeping at me. This is annoying...I need to fix the remote.

I have noticed when trying to program the passenger door lock does not seem to cycle. After I cycle the ignition and before I go to press both buttons on the remote I notice the passenger door will still be locked.

Any ideas?? what is involved in the door lock mechanism...anything that can easily/cheaply be replaced that could be bad and causing me to not be able to program? Thanks

I am also having problems with mine, but I don't know where is the BCM or how to test if it is ok. The weird thing is mine worked perfectly for about 4 days and then the door solenoids stopped operating (not even with the door buttons) and the courtesy light fuse blew. My remote still arms and disarms the alarm and flashes the turn signals normally.

I changed the fuse again, and 2 days later I checked it and its blown AGAIN...

Will the BCM "reset" if I disconnect the battery? or if I reprogram the remote keyfob?

Dear Shoebox, maybe you can help this poor boy.

I instaled an aftermarket keyless. it locks alright, but it only opens if I press the button within 3 seconds of locking it! Basically if I leave it longer - like running to a convenience store and returning, it doesnt unlock unless I unlock it manually with the key.

The indicator lights will flicker as I press the unlock button but it doesnt move the lock lever. Which means the signal is definitely being received by the receiver (??)

I find it baffling. Could it be a friction or a mechanical issue?

Thanks for any light you can provide.
