Problems with my power doors.
Problems with my power doors.
For a long time now I have been having these problems. I have tried to figure them out, but to no avail. I have two different problems. One of witch can probably be solved by replacing the door lock actuator, but the other I am at a loss for ideas.
Problem one: (the one that can probably be solved with the actuator)
The drivers door lock will not lock with the key-fob or lock switch. It will unlock, but not lock. The door must be locked manually with the door key or by physically pressing the lock in.
Problem two:
The passenger door will not unlock with the key-fob, with the unlock switch, with the key, or by manually pressing the lock out to the unlock position. You can open the door, you just have to either hold the key in the unlocking position while you lift up on the handle, or by holding the lock in the unlock position as you pull the handle. As soon as you let go of the lock or release the key from the unlocking position the locking mechanism pulls its self back to the locked position.
I have pulled the door panels off of the passenger door and I can see nothing wrong internally. I have watched the locking rod from the key hole down to it's connector and it springs its self back up as soon as pressure is released from it and I can not figure out why this happens. Now that I am typing this out it got me thinking... maybe the lock actuator is stuck closed? I don't know, I'd rather have some more opinions on this before I go start buying parts I don't need.
Any input on this matter is greatly appreciated. I want to get this sorted out so that I can finally get the little bit of body work the car needs done and a good paint job on the car and maybe start taking it to car shows again.
TIA,
Eddie

Gotta be patient someone will chime in,but I had the same problem, are you absolutly(spelling check),the rod is in the door handle, and did you actually see it move up and down or sideways(can't remmember?,and is there a little plastic rubbery thing on the tip of the rod?I removed the rubber tip and mine worked fine for years.Might spray some wd40 generously up there.hope this helps.Do the outside door handle area as well.(You did say anybody)You might need a flashlight and a small mirror to see all the stuff going on in there.My02.(can you hear the door trying to lock and unlock?Gotta check those little silver rods.)
Anyone have any other input on this subject? I know this is from forever ago, but I am stil having the same problem. Not too long after I made this thread the motor in the Camaro took a crap so I didn't worry about this, but now the car is having a 383 put in it. So now that the car is going to be back on the road it is a point of concern again.
