problem with mileage

so i was on the expressway yesterday and for some reason my odometer and tripometer dont match up. for every 1.6 or so miles on the trip it goes 1 mile on the odometer. everythin about my car that i know of and the person i bought it from is stock except for an exhaust and intake which have no effect on that. my guess is i could have gears in there or something but what kind would they be?

Re: problem with mileage

if the trip odometer was reset at an uneven milage, than it won't roll miles at the same time IE if I reset the trip odometer to 0.0 while the odometer reads 12,004.25
then the odometer will read .25 miles differnce

get it?

Re: problem with mileage

My trip odometer doesn't work. It used to go up to 9 miles and stop, now it just sits at 0.

Maybe doublecheck your RPM/MPH against the calculator at www.f-body.org/gears/ ????
