Question Power window motor brand preference??

Hello, My driver side window only goes down just a little, then it takes several tries, a few minutes apart to go all the way up. Was told it probaly was my window motor going out. Saw in one catalog that the motor was around $130.00. Saw in a J C Whitney and "if i saw it right", at AutoZone it was around $54.00. I E-mailed J C Whitney and was told the motor would fit,but would not automatically go all the way down with one push of the button--would have to hold button down, I can deal with that part--Question is -Do you guys have a preference of window motors as i heard it was a little bit tricky to replace or know of a vendor who sells these cheap and maybe o.e.m.-Kinda want to do right the first time-Thanks Dwayne

Re: Power window motor brand preference??

i wouldnt want a GM one personally, i would go with a autozone just bc they have a lifetime warranty. by the way, a couple yrs ago, i bought 2 bradn new gm window motors off of here for $60 combined. so $130 is alot to spend on one.

The links won't work via copy - paste, so see this thread. I'm username "lectrocrew" on that board.

My AZ had a motor manufactured by Siemens which had the correct holes and fit fine. It has the same AZ part #742-101 as the Dorman motor so you need to specify which one you want.
The Siemens part # is WL42014 but AZ does not use that part #.

Re: Power window motor brand preference??

I have a window motor from Advance on the drivers side and it's strong and works well... Best thing, if it goes bad it has a lifetime warranty and I drive 2 miles and get another.

get the autozones. I replaced mine with an autozone one and it lasted probably 3.5 years. I saved the box and the receipt because i knew it was gonna happen again, so i just exchanged it for a new one and i'm back going for a few more years.

Re: Power window motor brand preference??

I'd go with the Autozone, but that's because I work there But our price for that particular motor is about the best around for a lifetime warranty motor, if it goes bad they don't hassle you, just give you a new one, and since the rivets are replaced by nuts and bolts (included with the new motor) it is much quicker to replace than before, I changed a replacement that had gone bad in 35-45 minutes from door panel off to door panel back on.

???The express down is handled by a separate module, not the motor. They don't know what they are talking about. If you want them fixed permanently run a separate power source and install relays (posted here several days ago). I did this on the DS - and the window flys. It has so much power now you have trouble holding it back - the way it should be!
It really bothered me having such a powerful car with such wimpy windows.
