power window motor

Have any of you guys had trouble with autozone replacement motors for your windows? they give new ones but last for 4 or 5 months. Is there a better replacement that I can get? Or should I just buy a new factor motor. Thanks for your replys.

Aw damn i got an autozone one sitting downstairs untill i have time to put it in. Hope it doesn't die quick on me. But its got the lifetime warrenty on it, so itll only be another pain in the *** to replace it.

Re: Dam power window motor

Ive had my autozone replacement for about 6 months now. Worked great when I first installed it but it isn't as fast anymore. Works decent still but not as fast as it was on day 1.

I spent the $90 on a GM one. The first one lasted 10 years, this one should too.

I'd be cheap and not spend any more money. As long as you have the lifetime warranty, who cares? Every half-year isn't bad, especially if you've changed it yourself in the past. I did my driver's side on my v6 and the passenger side on my z28, I feel comfortable I could do the swap in less than 15 minutes in the autozone parking lot.

Dont' forget that you need to clean and regrease the regulator arms... making the motor work harder than it's supposed to is a good factor for killing it quicker.

Pull the window switch and measure the voltage you get on the wire going to the power window while putting it up/down. The switches can build up a high resistance over life, especially if you up and down the windows a lot. This can be solved by pulling ALL the wires off and cleaning, then reinstalling... or sometimes just swapping the switch.
