Power steering fluid foamy?

We got our 1st cold snap this morning and when I started the car I heard a loud whine. I knew it had to be the PS Pump. I took my son to school and when I got back I popped the cap on the reservoiur(sp) and it was foamy. The pump was quieter after she warmed up. Is it time to replace it and if so how hard is it to do?

Was it low on fluid? If it was low, and some air got in the pump it would froth and foam.

I would full it up and wait a few days. see if it does it again, and if it does I'd replace the pump.

Nope It was not low. I checked that. It has since got alot quieter. It seemd as though the in temps triggered it.

Hm. Maybe the low temp made the fluid thick and some air got to the pump somehow. I wouldnt worry about it unless it becomes chronic.
