power antenna stuck up (motor still working)

power antenna stuck up (motor still working)
Car is 97 TA. Antenna was working flawlessly, now stuck up. The motor is making a "grinding sound" now and I even tried helping the antenna down when turing the key, but no help. Can it be fixed or do I need to replace the whole thing? Its dark out now so I havent pulled the plastic panel to check it out. Thanks
