Powe window, came down 5 inches and quit makes horrible sound
Well the window motor is not that old. But today I rolled down my window and it won't go up or down, the motor makes a very loud sound like the gears inside maybe are gone? I see shoebox tech page, but im confused, the motor and regurlator is 2 different things, but be careful because of the springs. So I just take out the 3 rivets and the motor will fall. So I is that it. I have my car door apart and it looks rainy 30% chance, so any help on expalin this. I got the tech guide, haynes and my dad he has done this on his 94 lumina before ...thanks( i did search and im reading them)
Yes 3 rivits. U have to pull hte speaker, feel where the rivets are. 2 on the bottom and 1 on the top. Drill through the fiber glass to get to them. THen drill out the rivets. Keep the window raised to the top if u can, The window will not fall down when the motor falls out. Take note of how the motor sits. Its at about a 45 degree angle. Also to help u put in the new one you'll see a thick pin where the gear is. That thick pin inserts into a slot on the rail to line up the motor. THe motor will sit flush against the rail when the pin is in..
Ok my motor has been replaced so no rivets, I cna just take a socket and take the bolts out ( 3 of them) and it should be the same pull it out, pu the new one in. right?

I guess i will see that, dont quite understand that part yet...

RIght use a screw driver and rachet to loosen bolts...
Sorry ive had some alcohol.... so bare with me...
Look at the replacement motor. On the gear that turns, in the center of that gear there is a protrusion, a thick *** pin thingy, almost the size of a dime. That sticks out some from the gear to allow the window motor to fall in place..
When i change them.. I put my finger on the pin thingy and feel for the hole it goes into.. i'd tell u where to drill so u can see the hole were it goes into but thats too complicated to explain.

**** man, i wish i woulda read up on my motor job beofre i did it...i took the damn regulator out as well and had to order a damn 1/4 rivet gun and all this other crap. Gl to ya man. it's not hard if you have the parts, just be wairy of the fiberglass, cause if you break it it's a VERY expensive mistake. Nick
