Powdercoating an intake

I just bought a LS6 intake. A couple weeks ago I asked a buddy of mine that does powdercoating if he could powdercoat it but he said he didn't think so because it wasn't a metallic surface....he said if a magnet sticks to it, he can powdercoat it. Obviously, that rules out the LS6 intake.

HOWEVER....I've heard people talk about powdercoating LS6 and even LS1 and LS2 intakes.. Is it possible? Is there a special method/powdercoat etc.? Any help is much appreciated.

There are some metal versions of the LS intakes out there, maybe that is what you have seen powdercoated.

Wait, I'm pretty sure people powdercoat the LT1 intake manifold all the time, and its made of aluminum, non ferrous, i.e. magnet does not stick. If they are just painted, than my mistake.

Yes, you can powder coat plastic intakes. I think it requires special prep before application.

I never powder coat anymore. I prefer POR15 paints. Looks much better and way way cheaper.
