Possible Breaking and Entering: Need to Replace Trunk Lock Plate
Greetings Z28 group,
About a week ago, I had my '94 Z28 front and rear bumper covers replaced and painted at local dealership. I picked up the car and drove it home, then the next day I went to open my trunk lid and noticed the lock plate was completely loose and could not insert the key to open the trunk. The lock is still inside, and it opens fine using the electric switch. The dealer says the bumper install had nothing to do with it and that someone was possibly breaking into my car. My question is if, during the rear bumper installation, would it have been possible to have broken this plate, or are they correct that someone was tampering with it to break into my car? Also, how do I go about replacing this lock, is it something I can do myself?
Thank you for your help,
- Nes
