piston replacement question
piston replacement question
if you are going to only replace the pistons and rings, do you still need to remove the crank? also what if you have to hone the sleeve, can the crank stay in place? i was going to do a stroker kit, but might end up replacing the pistons for now so i can run n20 until i have more funding for the crank and other stuff. i know in the end, ill be paying for the labor twice, but im impatient.
If you aren't doing it yourself, why are you asking such questions???????
The person doing the work will TELL you how they want to do it.
Yes you can do it that way but it's not a good idea.
BTW the other weak link in the equation of giggle juice is the connecting rods but you didn't mention replacing them.
Perhaps this is not the thing to do for an impatient person!?
Unless of course you have disposable income which it appears you have.
Have you given any thought to building a second engine while you drive on the original so you can drive it while (who ever) builds it?

If you are doing this yourself do not have to remove the crank. Just pull the rod and piston out the top cover the rod journal and crank with plastic so you don't get the particals from honing all over. Clean everything real well before installing the new parts.
Good idea about driving on this engine while you build or save for another.
