Passing Inpection with Modified Exhaust
Passing Inpection with Modified Exhaust
I have to get my car inspected in a few days. (In NJ) Are they going to give me crap for having a modifed muffler? It is louder than stock, but not ridiculously Civic loud...it's just a Dynomax. I assume it'll pass emissions...but is there a loudness check or automatic failure for having modified the exhaust? (and adding dual pipes and quad tips)
Re: Passing Inpection with Modified Exhaust
I don't know for sure how NJ is, living in Pa., but I have a friend who had the SLP Loudmouth on his '01 SS, and he had no troubles.
As you can see in my sig., I too have modified my exhaust, including the cats, and inspection has been no problem for me.
Good luck

Re: Passing Inpection with Modified Exhaust
I think some states have decibel regulations and they test for the loudness of your exhaust. If you are that concerned, call the number that is on your emissions notice and I'm sure somebody can let you know. I personally think you should be fine with just a catback. When you throw on headers and a custom y-pipe, then you might begin to have some problems with the state.
Re: Passing Inpection with Modified Exhaust
I have a borla cat back and everytime they give me a hard time. Even though the honda guys are more annoying its the deep rumbleing that gets you into trouble. So every couple of years I have to crawl under my car and put in the block off plate
Love my Borla exhaust though
