Passenger side air bag cover
Passenger side air bag cover
I have a '93 Z28 that needs the passenger side airbag cover. The air bags have already been replaced, but the cover is cracked in numerous places. I found a guy on ebay that is parting out a '97 camaro. I asked him if I could purchase the cover, and he said that you can't remove it. Mine will easily come off, but that is probaly because it is cracked. Can anyone sell me one, or give me directions on how to remove the cover.

I just replaced mine this year after an accident... you do have to replace the entire dash structure on top... the passenger side airbag itself just sits underneath it. It's a good day project of ripping it all out... the structure goes across the whole front of the car. if you have any question feel free to ask... best way is through email mtriano@ramapo.edu
Re: Passenger side air bag cover
A 97 passenger air bag cover won't work on a 93 dash... It's a different style... They're right about the cover being intergrated into the dash... But if you found a dash in a wrecking yard you could remove just the cover with some work... You'd have to remove the dash and air bag and tap the cover out from behind with your fist until it broke loose... It's part of the top portion of the dashboard, but it's scored around the edges of the cover so it will pop off when the bag goes off in an accident... There's also a strap connected to the cover that has to be unbolted from the dash... That's the poor mans route to replacing just the cover... I'd replace the whole dash.
Re: Passenger side air bag cover
My car was in a small crash that depoyed the airbags before I bought it. They just replaced the cover instead of the whole dash, now it doesn't line up right. It stands a little bit higher then the rest of the dash and it bothers the hell out of me. I'm going to replace it soon
