park brake used to keep headlights off, but no more, suggestions?
At night when the key is turned to "on" position the headlights come on, but they used to stay off until the parking brake was released.
I would like to make the lights work the way they used to. The parking light P(!) indicator on the dash comes on as expected when the parking brake is up. So the dash board seems to know when it is up or down. Then why does the car behave differently all of a sudden with the headlights.
Before today if the brake was up at night then the lights stayed off until the brake was released. Could it be a fuse or something? It is strange to me that the dashboard indicator is right, yet the headlights come on even with the brake up now.
Suggestions??

I'm assuming you have a car with automatic headlights?
If so, I'd recommend disabling the auto-lights altogether. It's actually pretty easy. Pop up the dash to get at the light sensor beside the alarm LED, then cut the wires to the light sensor and join the ends together on the car side, essentially "by-passing" that sensor, and allowing the light switch work like a real switch, where OFF is truly OFF
, not ON just because it's dark outside!

on my dads 02 ZR2, there is a "bypass" button..that you can push and turn the lights off manually..i wish my car had that..even though i do like the auto lights cuz you never have to worry about turning your lights on/off
