Re: Painting stock salad shooters

you would have to strip the wheels, as in taking off all the clear coat and paint that is on them. From there you have to decide if you want to paint the whole wheel or just the parts that were painted before. You best bet is to have it powedercoated. The cost of powedercoating a wheel is not really worth it IMO. You can find saladshoter wheels a dime a dozen in good shape Just check around on the forsale section. It would be easyer and cheaper to just get some used ones.

I know prices differ from place to place, but around how much is it to powdercoat a rim. I was planning on just that this summer....black powdercoat all 4 rims.
Thanks

I painted mine black a few months ago. I just stripped them and used some BBQ paint on them and it is holding up nice. I even put tape around the inside lip of the tires and painted them on the car. I also stuffed paper behind the wheels so I didn't spray the brakes.

Their is a guy at my school with a LT1 car and he has his snow tires mounted on painted black salid shooters, it looks pretty good for a winter tire setup actually, probibly doesnt show dirt.

I have the pontiac salad shooters from a TA for my winter wheels, mine are pealing and stuff, I havent washed them in months! (really dont care, their just winter wheels to me)

I'm currently stripping the paint of my wheels, its a pain. Its not hard just takes lots of time. In the end I think the polished wheels will look better though. Honestly I wouldn't do it again though.

Ive seen those wheels powercoated, etc...still think they look like crap....I guess I could live w/ the chrome ones....I guess if you cant afford new wheels powercoating would be your best option
