Oscillating A/C

'95 Z28

At idle my A/C cycles on and off and it never gets cold enough. At highway speeds it will cool. I have been told the expansion valve is bad.

Anyone confirm this? Anyone able to share on how to replace the valve.

1. Have you had the system check on pressure readings??? Might be low on freon...

2. You might be talking about the expansion valve??? Its located passenger side by firewall... And yes it might be the problem...

3. If the expansion valve is the problem, also replace the accumulator/dryer...

Whoops, I did mean Expansion Valve.

Thanks for the diagram.

I'm guessing this repair will require pulling a vaccumn and recharging after replacing these components.

Am I correct that the expansion valve is tucked under the cowl making it difficult to get to?

Not really, but I took mine to a reputable shop with parts in hand and had them install/flush/vacuum/recharge the system....

But I used this freon;
