Which one, which one?
Alright I'm making you guys my decision makers on all things Camaro..
I'm selling my 93 (soon as it's fixed) in favor of an LS1 powered version. My options are: A 98 Z28, or an 01 SS. Both (ironically) are black, t-tops, M6, charcoal leather interior.
The 98 - Bad: 136k miles
Good: only $5000, int., ext., and mechanicals seem in good shape, already has a catback.
The 01 - Bad: The price is at 15000$, the int. and ext., are not in QUITE as good of shape as the 98.
Good: It's an SS, 47k miles, better resale, less (likely) to go wrong with it as quick.
I'm really just wanting fun for this coming summer, I'm going to boot a couple months after it so I won't get much use out of the car until I'm done with all of the training. I'd rather have the SS, but I can pay off the Z28 much quicker. Should I tie myself down with what could end up being a better car, or should I save my money and settle on something that could eventually end up as a similar mechanical funhouse to my 93
? Oh and I net about 400 a week, but have almost no free time and about 90% job security. Just so you have all the info :P Thanks ahead of time guys!

Re: Which one, which one?
I'd say to go for the Z28. Since the car has a 6 speed the miles are not all that great and the $10,000 difference would go a long way to other mods or what ever might be coming your way. Also, do you think an SS could be that much more fun?
Re: Which one, which one?
Not more fun, just probably less wear. Neither car is staying stock, I just won't have a lot of time to make repairs should any come up. (besides, sorta had my fill for this year with the LT1 head gaskets, distributor, lower ball joints...etc etc.) But yes I had thought of having that extra 10k as well.
Re: Which one, which one?
I agree with the $10,000 difference and the fact that the exterior and interior is not as nice. I'd go with the z-28. If both cars were 100% equal, well then you would want the SS.
Re: Which one, which one?
Well, the only thing that steered me toward the SS was the fact that the other had 136k miles on it. But since I'm really not familiar with LS1s, and so far the only two major problems I've heard of is burning oil and oil pumps going out, I guess I wouldn't be too taken aback about purchasing the Z. (Besides...when I'm done with that extra 10k the only thing left on the car with over 100k miles on it will be the odometer :P)
Re: Which one, which one?
15k for a 01 thats crazy. I would pass on both of them! the o1 is a little high on price, and if you plan and doing some serious modds on the 98 i heard the COMPUTER dont like that! Maybe just take a little more time and look around some more? G/L
Re: Which one, which one?
I would avoid a 98 like the plague. It was the first year for the LS1, and I personally consider it a transition year. It has a metal tank like an LT1, so the fuel pump is unique. The PCM is unique also. I would much rather find a 99 if you are looking for an older LS1.
The 01 seems overpriced IMHO.

Re: Which one, which one?
Or you could buy a 2004-2006 GTO for around 10-15k, much newer, much lower miles. They all come with leather and are really nice. I had an '04 and loved every second of it. The 05-06 came with an LS2, which had 400hp compared to 350hp. I have an LT1 and don't regret buying it at all. Either car would be great, but 15k for an '01 sounds about
7k overpriced.
