oil change
I was driving and the oil change light came on in my 99 z28. I figured I never did one so I took it in and had an oil change. every time I start the car the oil change light stays on but once the car starts moving it shuts off. is this a bad sensor?

Re: oil change
1. change your own oil
2. dont go by the light, that thing is whack. i replace my amsoilXL every 7k miles. mobile 1 i would do every 5k. (if you brought it somewhere, you prob have some generic synthetic crap in there.)
3. put the keys in the on position so all the lights and such are on. (might be acc position) hold the trip button for 13seconds or something. thatll reset the light.
dont cheap out on changing your oil man, that ls1 is worth a pretty penny and you should be treating it like that too.

Re: oil change
To reset the oil change reminder, press and hold the "TRIP/OIL RESET" button on the instrument panel for ~10 seconds. When the light flashes and then goes out, the system is reset.

Re: oil change
thanks guys the light went off. I don't know much about cars I learn as I get in trouble with them and from what my dad can teach me. The reason I had pep boys do the oil change was because my dad told me that when they do oil changes mechanics usually re grease everything under the car.

Re: oil change
^thats cool man, just stay ontop of those oilchanges. I wouldnt put more then 7k miles on that oil unless you're doing all highway. Its all most worth bring my car to a jiffy lube or something because how cheap they do it now a days.

Re: oil change
There's not much of anything under the car that needs to be "re greased". There are no grease fittings, unless someone replaced the ball joints with fittings, or someone added parts like aftermarket LCA's with fittings.

Re: oil change
get yourself a universal oil filter removal tool. The once thats a just a strap, with a metal bar that goes to a ratchet. The way the pan is, you really cant get your hand around the filter.
When you do it yourself, you'll get a good feeling of accomplishment haha. Im no super mechanic, so everytime i change my oil myself it puts a fat smile on my face.

Re: oil change
That being said, half the time I change my oil I either use my hand or an old leather belt to loosen the filter.
