not sure where to put this....
hey, was wondering if anybody else out there had this happen to them actually just noticed it tonight when i put gas in my car. i stopped real fast and it seemed like a strong odor of gas was inside the car, down the road open the window and it aired out inside and was gone from there on. The cars stock nothing done to its a 94 z28, i also think it's happend when i fill it up all the way too the smell i mean ....not sure havent filed it to the top in awhile ( gas prices
) anyhow was wondering is this normal or what? whats hte deal wheres it coming from is there a way to stop it ??? i guess it's one of those nagging things kind of like a vibration in your car that you cant find
anyhow let me know what the deal is thanks......

Re: not sure where to put this....
There's a charcoal canister in the driver's side rear fender that collects vented fuel vapors, and recycles them. The hoses that connect it to the fuel tank can rot and crack, the canister can be saturated with liquid fuel, particularly if you routinely over fill the tank. The charcoal can break up and plug the line that recycles the vapor to the engine. Any of those things might increase the smell of fuel at the back of the car, and based on my experience, it seems to smell the most when you stop for a light. Could also be the fuel cap was not tightened all the way.
