Not blowing warm air?

My car after being serviced, decided to not blow hot air...it blew warm air before *but not hot* it had a antifreeze leak but that was repaired and is now full of antifreeze but still get no warm air. I noticed last night after the car was idiling for a little bit, a film developed on my windshield...it wasn't the normal heater core film but it was there. I wiped it off and it didn't come back...it could have been cause it was snowing and stuff and that's why it was there. Same story today beings we had 5 inches of snow! But I had to go buy a portable heater *does not blow enough air at ALL!*. So what could this be? I'm thinking thermostat or heater core...again, my antifreeze is full

I'd check the thermostat first. Make sure it's not staying open.

I don't think it could be my thermostat cause my temp gauge isn't going haywire and it never overheats, just doesn't blow hot air

What is your temperature gauge at?

What did you get serviced? Did you try opening the radiator cap with the car warm and the inside set for heater? (circulates the coolant through the heater core and lets the air out.)....On a 4th gen, you'd be opening up the screw on the coolant line to let any air bubbles out.

If you've got a 160° thermostat in there, you'll never feel warm inside the car. LT1's need the stock 180° thermostat.

This time of year, you want the radiator fans off or at the stock settings.

I had my opti replaced and they replaced my water pump gaskets. My temp gauge usually stays right in the middle or a touch below and sometimes a touch above, so dunno what that means. I haven't tried any of them tips yet, I want to do something before I have to go out and spend some cash, so let's try the free tips first

If the t-stat is not functioning properly it will be stuck open, allowing coolant to flow through radiator. This makes for cooler coolant, and in cold weather, a poorly functioning heater. When the t-stat is working properly, it stays closed until the coolant reaches 180º, then it opens and makes for a toasty warm heater.

I suppose you could test it, but they're cheap, just get a new one. If you really want to test it, put it in a pot of water with a thermometer and heat up the water on the stove. The t-stat should open up at 180º (unless someone installed a 160º thermostat). I don't have a Camaro, so I can't tell you exactly where the t-stat is located, but you might consider getting one of those Haynes manuals - it'll show you how to do all kinds of basic maintenance.

Most likely location - follow the upper radiator hose to where it connects to the top of the engine.
Disconnect the hose from the thing it's attached to (water neck), then remove the water neck. The t-stat will be right underneath just sitting there loosely and can be picked out with your fingers.
