No fire!!!

I have a 94 Trans Am with a new opti and waterpump as of 4000 miles ago. I have never washed the motor or driven the car in the rain either. Well its been running great since everything new but yesterday it decided to crap on itself again. For no apparent reason the car doesn't want to start now, I mean I did wash the car but that was just the outside of it. The car will crank and crank but it won;t ever fire up. What else can I check?

Re: No fire!!!

If you check for spark and have no luck it could also be a coil issue or ignition module problem. That is the problem I had on my Caprice.

Re: No fire!!!

How do you check? Do you just pull a wire off a plug then replace it with another plug and hold it close the block as someone cranks it? What about the coil and ignition module? How do you test those?

Re: No fire!!!

pull the coil wire off the opti and insert anything metallic and set it close to a clean metal surface. if you get spark there could be a bad opti again.

Re: No fire!!!

Ok so far I've checked the wires by pulling a wire off a plug and sticking a screwdriver inside it while someone cranked the car to see if it sparked. I didn't get any spark there. I then pulled the coil wire off the opti and touched it with the screwdriver and held it close to the block as someone cranked it again. Still no spark. Am I doing this right or is the coil my problem?
